World Cup Fever: All’s well that ends well…

4 12 2009

GREAT DRAW of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa in Cape Town earlier this morning (Brunei Time) and I slept through it after I took my flu pill, Clarityne! πŸ˜€ Hehehhe πŸ™‚

All in all, the drawn teams, groupings and matches look fascinating enough and may spring a few surprising upsets, come June-July 2010… πŸ˜‰

Group A: South Africa; Mexico; Uruguay; France
Group B: Argentina; Nigeria; South Korea; Greece
Group C: England; United States; Algeria; Slovenia
Group D: Germany; Australia; Serbia; Ghana
Group E: Netherlands; Denmark; Japan; Cameroon
Group F: Italy; Paraguay; New Zealand; Slovakia
Group G: Brazil; North Korea; Ivory Coast; Portugal
Group H: Spain; Switzerland; Honduras; Chile

Looking at the above, I could already pick and choose my personal selection of the last 16 to make it through to the next level next year. But then I could be all wrong! πŸ˜›

Group A: South Africa and Uruguay
(France will be knocked out due to bad Thierry Henry Karma! Hahahha :D)
Group B: Argentina and Nigeria
(Lionel Messi will definitely live up to his World’s Best Player tag! :))
Group C: England and the United States
(Both teams simply deserve to go through to the 2nd Round stage! ;))
Group D: Germany and Ghana
(Two of the strong contenders for the Semi-Final stage next year :P)
Group E: Holland and Cameroon
(These European and African teams respectively are both versatile and stylish! :))
Group F: Italy and Paraguay
(Defending champions Italy will top the tables with the most goals scored without a loss ;))
Group G: Brazil and Ivory Coast
(Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portuguese teammates are really no match for the skilful Brazilians and Africans :D)
Group H: Spain and Chile
(Spain, being Numero Uno in FIFA world rankings and the Chileans are superb Spanish-speaking teams… :P)

Like the saying goes, the ball is round (even if it’s state-of-the-art and newly designed Adidas Jabulani ball!) and anything can happen. That’s the MAGIC of this game called football or soccer. Happy World Cup Fever! πŸ™‚
